Go is the oldest board game in the world. As little rules as there are - there are so many possibilities. In contrast to chess, today no computer in the world is almost able to offer good players Paroli.
Go is a territorial game. Both players try to win as much space as possible of the board. Each train is simply placed on a grid and tries to cut off its area. The enemy stones that have been completely enclosed are caught. They're coming from the field.
In contrast to other abstract games, Go offers the possibility of bringing weaker and stronger players together at a table and still having exciting games through the simple set of stones.
Don't think too much about it... just play it!
