In Rhodes, the player takes on the role of a farmer who brings goods to the city in small boats in order to conduct lucrative trade , or to expand your farm. The player who has collected the most victory points at the end of the game is the winner. Players earn points by bringing fresh produce from the countryside to the port, completing mission cards and expanding their farm into an estate with special buildings. At the end of the game, gold and money can bring in additional victory points.
Since this is only an instruction manual for the game in BrettspielWelt, be sure to read the original rules. You can find the rules here.
Rhodes instructionsAt the start of the game, each player receives not only a starting capital of 30 drachmas (25 for 4-5 players) but also the task of acquiring two farms for their farm. For these "starting farms" you immediately receive a raw material of the selected type.
Every action in the game must be confirmed with “OK” after a selection has been made or can be canceled with “X” if this is allowed.
The game is played over several rounds. A game round consists of 2 phases. In the first phase you take turns playing one of your 2 actions on the game board.
All players have their actions Once completed, a new player order is determined for the next round by choosing a place on the order board (in reverse player order) and receiving rewards or having to pay additional costs depending on the place.
ATTENTION: Whenever a die has a "?" is provided, this is a joker that can be exchanged by tapping on the desired goods/color.
You have 6 different action options, two of which you can carry out per round, if they have not already been carried out so often by other players that there is no more "space" to carry them out Action is.
By selecting two production types, you determine the production that should be triggered. This production is divided among all players in turn.
This action is triggered by selecting two of the available production tiles to determine the quantity and then placing them on the respective farms in order to determine the type of production there.
Since the distribution of raw materials takes place in the order in which the players sit (one good per player), you can thereby influence who receives more or less goods. (In order to obtain a good you need a farming card with free space of the corresponding type in your farm)
You can view your own and other players' farms by clicking on them. To carry out the action, you select the action slot there directly. This means that each player can activate his farm once per round.
By activating it, you receive the bonus of money and victory points from each of your farm cards (in the lower part of the tile). In addition, you can use all of your farm's actions.
Using your farm requires that you allow at least one of your fully loaded ships to sail into the harbor. You also receive one victory point or 2 drachmas per good on the loaded ship.
You load by selecting one Ship and the available raw materials a ship of your choice. Use the arrows on the right in the window to determine whether you would prefer to receive victory points or drachmas and see the complete "income" there. You can also use the other farm actions here before loading.
At the harbor you carry out two actions, both of which do not necessarily have to be used.
At the harbor you can purchase as many goods as you want by clicking on them and have drachmas. The price of goods at the port is above the ships. The warehouse cannot store more than 10 goods.
An order that you can then fulfill if you If you have the necessary raw materials in storage, you can select them by tapping on them. (This is colored green if you can complete it successfully.) The necessary goods for an order can be taken from the warehouse, from the current purchase at the port or directly from your own estate. If goods from the estate are used (a maximum of 2 are allowed), they must be paid dearly in drachmas. (1 goods for 3 drachmas, 2 goods for 8 drachmas). When making a selection, the program automatically shows whether this order can be fulfilled and how much may have to be paid for it.
At the market you sell goods from your estate for drachmas. It is important to be there before the other players, because for every player who was on the market before you, the sales value is reduced by one drachma.
In the temple you can convert remaining drachmas into victory points. Here too, just like in the market, it is better to get to the temple earlier to pay less.
(1st player in the temple: 5 drachmas for one victory point)
(2nd player in the temple: 7 drachmas for one victory point)
In the town hall you can expand your estate. You can buy various developments or new farms there and build them in your own estate. New agriculture makes it possible to make more profits in production. Developments provide various improvement options, such as more storage space or the direct transport of goods from the estate to the warehouse.
You get 1 VP for every 2 units of the corresponding product on your estate.
Poseidon gives one victory point.
In the production phase you get an additional unit to harvest a good for which you have a farming card.
With this card you can store one unit of each product type. This is only possible if there is a farming card of this type in the player's estate and it is full.
If you transport a product from your own farming card to your own warehouse, you receive 1 drachma from the bank for it.
You get a product on your own farming card if there is enough storage space. You also get 1 drachma from the bank.
With this you exchange a product from your warehouse for another product of your choice Product from general stock. You can't make gold with this! You also get 1 drachma.
The game ends with the round in which The outstanding orders can no longer be refilled with new ones. In this last round of the game, every player is allowed, as an exception, to purchase goods at the port and complete orders, even if all action spaces have already been occupied by other players. However, only if he has not yet used the harbor action in this round.
