Each player must try to get as many balls as possible into his large bowl. Each player has four small and a large bowl.
Players move alternately. If you're on the line, there are two possible moves: you can bring new bullets out of your stock (to pull a bullet out of stock into one of its four small bowls) or you can bring a bullet out of one of its four small bowls into the big one. One player always plays from right to left (in the example this is green), the other from left to right.
So if Green wants to bring new bullets into play, he pulls one of his green balls out of stock into one of the four small bowls. Then a ball comes into each bowl on the right of it.
If a ball is to be brought into its large shell, this must be done from a small shell in which exactly as many balls have to lie as this shell is removed from the large one. In the example this means: red (plays here from left to right) can either take the balls out of the small bowl right, right next to the big one, put the ball in the big one (overdraw) or out of the third bowl from left. The other shells have too little balls. If red from the third shell from the left empty the balls (to the big draw), then a ball comes into the large shell and one into the right small. Generally, all balls are distributed individually to the right from a shell; i.e. on the way to the large bowl you lose a ball in every small bowl.
Attention! You should never have more balls in a bowl than the way to the large bowl is wide; because then you can no longer empty this shell from your own power! You then need the opponent to steal the stones.
When using new balls, you can steal balls from the opponent. If you drag a ball into an empty field and the opposite field is filled with balls of the opponent, you get these balls directly into your own large bowl. If red were placed in the right small bowl in the example, he would be able to get the two green balls.
The game ends when none of the two players can pull more. In particular, it can happen that at the end only one of the two players pulls because the other can no longer be!
